This was the first column I wrote after a long summer break working as a fry cook. I had a lot of time to think while I waited for those chicken to wings to be up.
Also, this was the first column where I felt I had a strong enough concept that I didn’t need a ton of jokes to back it up or pad it. For that reason, a lot of future columns grew more like essays instead of punchlines, for better or for worse.
